Reiss Nelson is reportedly ready to turn down some of the biggest clubs in European football in order to sign a new Arsenal contract (via The Standard).
Ask almost any fan who the best young player at the club is and most will say the same thing: Reiss Nelson.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the club which started in pre-season and ended in his first Premier League start last Sunday.
The youngster has been played in a variety of different positions and impressed but many Gunners fans feared the worst when he was linked with a number of different clubs.
The likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly keen on the player whose current deal is set to expire next summer.

However, the 18-year-old has claimed that he is ready to sign a new deal.
“It is a big achievement to sign for a big club like Arsenal so I’m just delighted with the contract and hopeful that I can sign it soon,” he told Standard Sport.
“Wenger is one of the biggest [influences] for me, he keeps pushing the youngsters — me, Eddie [Nketiah] and Joe [Willock] – I think he has got a bright future planned for us.
“We just have to keep training well and he is always going to push us and will give us first-team football when the opportunities arise.”
One of those opportunities came earlier this week when Nelson made his first Premier League start.
“A first-team start in the Premier League is always a step forward. I’ve just got to thank the boss and all my team-mates around me, pushing me and making me work harder.
“I did set one target [at the start of the season]: to make my first-team debut. I have done that. A Premier League start was on the cards but I need to score, that is the only one I haven’t achieved so fingers crossed I can get a cheeky goal before the end of the season.”
It’s great news for the club that one of the best young players has agreed to stay at Arsenal. Reiss Nelson is a serious talent who, if correctly nurtured, could one day become a key player for the club. Let’s hope that turns out to be the case.
