The Gunners are closing in on World Cup winner Sami Khedira, if this report is to be believed, as a fee has been agreed with Real Madrid over the sale for the combative midfielder.
The German international was cruelly ruled out of his counties 1-0 extra-time final victory last night over Argentina after sustaining an injury during the warm up. He has however made a massive impression for the champions throughout the tournament despite missing a chunk of last season through injury.
He has been an important player for Madrid over the last four seasons, but it appears the Spanish giants have no choice but to offload him as contract talks have stalled with one year left on his current terms.
Reports are certainly heating up that Khedira is in fact very close to signing a four-year deal at the Emirates, with the Gunners fending off strong interest from the likes of Chelsea.
The 27-year-old is a dynamic midfielder that is capable in both the box-to-box and defensive midfield roles, capable of adding a strong aerial presence and combative energy to any engine room. If Arsenal are able to capture him, it would be a huge boost to the squad and significantly strengthen our options.

Mikel Arteta has started to show his age, however he remains a very important player at the club, both on and off the field. Matheiu Flamini is another who can operate in the holding role, but both are not quite the world class calibre players we crave. Still, both are players who will get games this season.
If the Gunners can land Khedira alongside Mathieu Debuchy, the majority of our transfer business will have been sorted early and it will place us in an excellent position ahead of the new campaign. Although we have yet to hear anything concrete from either party, let’s hope this one comes to fruition. He would be a brilliant signing, and would work wonderfully alongside Aaron Ramsey.
