Arsenal are reportedly continuing to monitor Luis Suarez’s situation at Liverpool ahead of a possible swoop in January transfer window, according to reports in Daily Mirror.
The Report states that the Gunners will back their manager to go after whoever he wants in January, and that there is still a determination to bring in a proven center forward. Wenger got Ozil over the line by convincing the Real Madrid play maker of his vision for the north Londoners which includes buying more A-List stars.
The Gunners were involved in a farcical pursuit of the Uruguay international this summer, which culminated in the infamous £40,000,001 bid aimed at activating a non-existent buy-out clause in Suarez’s contract. The report further suggests that Arsenal will keep tabs on his situation to see whether there is any softening in the Kop’s stance of not selling their Uruguayan star to a club they see as a rival for a top-four finish.
Lucrative sponsorship deals with Emirates and Puma have helped the North-London outfit build up a sizable transfer kitty. The club tried to sign Chelsea forward Demba Ba on a season-long loan in the summer but Mourinho blocked the move , Wenger is determined to sign a new striker on a permanent base.
Olivier Giroud is the only established center forward at Wenger’s disposal, but he wants to rectify that by bringing in competition for the 26-year-old in the New Year. Free signing Yaya Sanogo is currently the only back-up option for Arsenal.
The relations between Arsenal and Liverpool soured after that initial bid, with the Merseyside club adamant that Suarez was not for sale at any cost to a team they felt was a competitor for Champions League football. Suarez had indicated he wanted to leave Anfield before U-turning and opting to stay.

Even though Suarez stated that he is not thinking of leaving Liverpool, it looks like the statement was made out of desperation as Liverpool left him with no option. It looks like both the sides have agreed to stay calm and the statement is just to get the fans back on track but once the transfer window opens in January i don’t think Suarez will stay calm if Liverpool fail continue the good form they have started the League with.
Wenger is still aware that he needs another striker in his squad, with Olivier Giroud the only fit, establish out-and-out striker available to him. Although we have Yaya Sanogo and Bendtner i don’t think they can provide adequate back up considering it’s Sanogo’s first season while Bendtner has not competed at this level for quite some time now.
The capture of Ozil will go a long way in pursuing a top striker to make a move to the Emirates and it looks like Suarez’s capture will be the priority for Wenger when the transfer window opens in January. If we can continue this momentum until window opens again and get a world class striker, then i am sure we will have a great chance of ending our trophy drought this season.
