Arsenal have reportedly made a £24.7 million bid to Schalke for attacking midfielder Julian Draxler, according to reports in Daily Star.
The German international is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now and has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd. The Gunners have been watching the 20 year old for some time and are said to have been in discussions with his club for a January deal over the course of last week.
The report states that Arsenal have made a take it or leave it bid of £24.7 million for Schalke wonder kid. The German has a buy out clause of £37 million that comes into play in the summer, but the Gunners have proposed a deal with various add-ons in a bid to land the German international by Friday when the transfer window closes.
The talks are currently taking place in Germany but Arsenal face a race against time to reach a deal before the deadline, but it could go right down to the wire on Friday as the two parties are still some way apart.
Some reports earlier suggested that Draxler himself is keen to make the move. The youngster has scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 39 games for the German side and looks on course to better that this term with 5 goals and 8 assists in 24 matches.
The 20 year old could be a fine addition to the Arsenal squad, particularly with the Gunners suffering with a number of injuries at present and the need has become even more pressing following the news that Aaron Ramsey might face up to six weeks on the sidelines.

He has the pace, willingness to dribble at opponents and desire to shoot as soon as he gets a sight of goal which could make him the direct threat Arsenal require in the second half of the season.
His move could have a morale boosting effect on the squad and might prove to be the difference in the title race, but it remains to be seen whether Schalke will be willing to part ways with the play maker this month.
