Arsenal have reportedly been offered Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema for just £20m as Ancelotti sets his sights on Liverpool favourite Luis Suarez, according to reports in Evening Standard.
The Bernabeu side remain interested in Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and could look to sell the French striker to help fund a potential deal. The Gunners, who attempted to sign the French international in the summer, have been made aware that Real Madrid are prepared to sell him for £20m, half the amount the forward was valued at in August.
The striker has scored just two goals in eight appearances for Madrid this season, failing to impress new manager Carlo Ancelotti. It is believed the Italian is beginning to lose patience with the forward.
The report states that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to sell the striker for a decent chunk less than the £30m invested in his services back in 2009 and with indications growing that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is still adamant on quitting the club, Perez will look to offload Benzema to partially fund a move for the Uruguayan.
Benzema boasts a more than respectable goal scoring record during his time at both Lyon and Real. His reputation for his physicality and hold-up play could see him become an asset in the Premier League.

The Frenchmen’s ability to easily slot into Wenger’s preferred system (4-2-3-1) also makes him an ideal Arsenal transfer candidate. The club have excellent creative midfielders and it is in the final third where they have truly lacked such a clinical presence since the unpopular departure of former favourite Robin van Persie last summer.
He is perhaps not quite as coveted as he was two or three seasons ago, but is an undeniably formidable marksman whose sheer presence would instantly boost the status of the Gunners attack. Wenger is a long term admirer of Benzema and may feel that now is the right time to bring in the powerful forward to play alongside national team colleague Olivier Giroud, who has been in fine form this term.
The North London club have been boosted immensely by Ozil’s arrival and even if Giroud stays fit until January, Arsenal cannot rely on one Frenchman to go the distance all season long across potentially four competitions as it would be practically impossible. So the Gunners definitely need another striker to keep their title hopes going and Benzema would be a perfect signing at a cut price which would appeal even more for Wenger.
