According to Metro, Arsenal have demanded a final decision from Gonzalo Higuain who they have reached a verbal agreement with, however he could stay yet make a U-turn and remain with Real Madrid after earlier talks with new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
We recently reported the 25-year-old Argentine is set for crunch talks with chairman Perez on Monday to clear the air, and it seems it may be the player himself who is dragging out the transfer saga with a final personal decision yet to be made over his future.
As a result Arsene Wenger has yet to bring in a senior summer signing with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez linked of late, however the Premier League duo remain unlikely realistic targets despite the Frenchman’s recent statements. The Gunners need a resolution over Higuain’s future and fast otherwise they will turn their attention elsewhere.
The report cites a transfer agreement with Real Madrid over a month ago which is estimated in the £25m range, which would smash Arsenal’s record, and also a verbal agreement between the Gunners and Higuain for a £150,000-a-week contract. However the deal which seemed destined for completion is still up in the air with a decision over his future yet to be set in stone.
Much of Madrid’s worries will be down to whether they can secure a replacement for Higuain, with Madrid’s general manager Jose Angel Sanchez revealing in May that Higuain will be sold in the summer, and one or two brought in.

One of the names on the La Liga runner-ups list is Liverpool’s Suarez, if Madrid do indeed manage to secure the Uruguayan’s signature then Higuain would be allowed to leave, but for now it all seems up in the air until the outcome of his Monday meeting with Perez is revealed.
Hold tight Gooners, hopefully we will have some positive, confirmed news soon.
