Arsenal are keen to bring in Hoffenheim’s Alexander Rosen as a director of football but Arsene Wenger is reportedly furious with the decision (via The Daily Mirror).
Anyone who watched the North London Derby on Sunday will have noticed a clear need for change at Arsenal. The Gunners were completely outclassed by local rivals Spurs with the visitors looking like a side lacking confidence, ideas and quality.
Many believe that the necessary change should come in the management position. Arsene Wenger has been at the club for over 21 years but his current contract expires in the summer.
While a new deal has not been announced, there are growing reports that Wenger will indeed sign a new contract and it seems that Arsenal are planning for the future.
The Daily Mirror claims that Arsenal are pursuing a director of football but that Arsene Wenger is completely against the decision.
The report claims that Hoffenheim’s Alexander Rosen is at the top of the list. The 38-year-old currently holds the director of football position at the Bundesliga side and was apparently instrumental in the appointment of current manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann is just 29 years old but his Hoffenheim side sits second in the Bundesliga table despite making a profit of over £10 million in transfers during the season.
Arsene Wenger undoubtedly has an enormous influence at Arsenal. He has been instrumental in the club’s success in the last two decades but at the moment, things aren’t working. Perhaps a director of football is the way to go if Wenger is to remain at the club and Rosen seems like a good appointment potentially.
