According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have offered Bayern Munich £17.2m for defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo, with talks reportedly at an ‘advanced stage’.
The Brazilian international who is currently on duty with his national team recently spoke of his admiration for the north London club, however has made game time his priority as he aims to be part of the World Cup next year.
The defensive minded midfielder, who can fill in at the back if required, has struggled to feature for Bayern recently with Javi Martinez the go-to man in the pivot role and despite interest from Wolfsburg, the 26-year-old is eager to play Champions League football next season.
The report does state however that the player has yet to make a decision, but if talks are in fact at an advanced stage as Sky sources claim, then Gooners can begin to get excited over their first senior signing this summer.

This summer has been full on disappointments, with Higuain and possibly now Suarez out of reach but one position that has always required reinforcing is the defensive midfielder role. Gustavo’s versatility will also aid the Gunners lack of depth at the back with a couple of injuries already stretching resources thinly.
