The Gunners have made another attempt to secure the services of right back Bacary Sagna and have offered him improved terms according to Goal.com.
The Gunners star defender is in the final months of his contract and is able to sign a pre-contractual agreement with an overseas club. A number of high profile European sides are reportedly after the 31-year-old including the likes of PSG, Monaco, Inter and even Arsenal’s title rivals Liverpool.
Negotiations have dragged on for much of last and this season, but it appears the Gunners are edging toward the $100k mark Sagna’s representatives are apparently holding out for.
According to the report, Arsenal have offered the France international a two-year, £75k-a-week deal that includes an option for a third year. Still not quite the six figure weekly income but with the potential to extend it for a third year could help sway his decision.
Previous offers had rumoured to be around the £60-70k a week mark for a two year deal, Wenger basically refuses to offer anything longer than a one year deal when players reach their 30’s but Sagna has proven a special case with his high fitness levels and lack of susceptibility to regular injuries, not to mention the commitment and top level performances he continues to produce for the Gunners.

Wenger (as always) has maintained Sagna loves the club and wants to continue, and some past quotes from the defender himself also suggested that he wants to continue in north London should he get himself a bumper wage package.
It’s essential that we do keep Bac. His experience has proven invaluable and he’s the perfect role model for young Carl Jenkinson who is learning from the right back week in, week out.
His versatility has also been important as his ability to slot in at centre half has proved essential when we’ve suffered injuries over the course of the past couple seasons.
Common Sagna, sign da ting!
