Arsenal have reportedly made a £1.5 million loan move for Senegalese striker Demba Ba but Chelsea are demanding a fee in the region of £3 million, according to reports in Daily Mail.
The Senegalese striker joined from Newcastle for £7.5m last January, but has only managed to score twice in the league since his move. Ba has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, especially after the arrival of Samuel Eto’o and the return of Romelu Lukaku from his loan at West Brom.
Arsenal are believed to have approached Chelsea on Saturday to ask about his availability, and have now returned to the table in the hope of doing business. The Gunners want to sign Ba on a season-long loan deal, with the option for a permanent move in 12 months time.
The Gunners are desperate to sign another striker before the transfer window closes at 11 pm tonight and have lined up Ba as a player who could compete with Olivier Giroud for a starting spot in the Arsenal team. Napoli and Valencia are also thought to be interested, while Mourinho is happy for Ba to remain part of his squad, Chelsea will not stand in his way if the right offer arrives.
Ba who stands at 6 ft 2 in is a real handful in the box not only from aerial chances but also in his ability to shake off defenders, power through into dangerous positions and get in front of his markers. He is more than just a target-man, his finishing when he’s riding high on confidence, is both efficient and intelligent.
Arsene Wenger generally deploys just one center forward in his 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 system and Giroud has been in fine form, scoring 4 goals already this term, the potential arrival of Ba either on loan or in a permanent switch, would give Giroud some genuine competition up front.

I think signing Demba Ba on loan will be good move considering the fact that he is proven striker in the premier league and can also challenge him for the first team spot. Demba Ba’s power and physical supremacy could also bolster Arsenal’s ability to out-muscle teams and this will add strength to Arsenal bench.
What do you say Gunners?
