Reported Arsenal target Zlatan Ibrahimovic has denied that he was ever close to joining us on deadline day after reports emerged that Paris Saint-Germain were keen on doing a deal with us, The Evening Standard reports.
Ibrahimovic, who is currently away on international duty with Sweden, emerged as a potential target after The Evening Standard reported that PSG were willing to sell him to us rather than Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani.
However, the former Barcelona man claims that he was unaware of any interest and stated that his agent, Mino Raiola, would’ve informed him of any developments.
“No, so the interest that existed, I have not committed myself to,” Ibrahimovic was quoted as saying.
“It is Mino [Raiola] who takes care of the pieces. When I give notice that I want something to happen I get involved. But this summer I have been resting up, I enjoyed the holiday.”

Ibrahimovic never seemed like a feasible deal, even if he was made available by the French champions. The fact that he would command huge wages, despite entering the twilight of his career, may have made Wenger reluctant to bring him in.
Also, with his universally recognised charisma, his mannerism and brashness may well have affected the dynamics in the dressing room that the boss is so keen to protect.
