Reports suggest that Arsenal are amongst the favourites to sign the FC Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti thanks to the club’s director, Raul Sanllehi (via Sky Sports).
Go back just 12 months and he was considered amongst the best centre-backs in world football but things have gone awry for Samuel Umtiti.
The FC Barcelona played a starring role for France in their World Cup-winning summer but injuries and a loss of form have cost the player his starting spot at the Camp Nou this season.
In January, the Spanish side bought midfielder Frenkie De Jong from AFC Ajax and reports suggest that in the summer, they are targeting his teammate Matthijs De Ligt.
In order to sign the youngster, the Spanish champions will need to sell and reports suggest that Samuel Umtiti is at the top of the list.

Mundo Deportivo has claimed that the Gunners are in pole position for his signature thanks to the club’s Director of Football, Raul Sanllehi who was instrumental in bringing the player to the Camp Nou in 2016.
The 25-year-old France international is strong, quick, and excellent on the ball. He may have fallen down the pecking order at FC Barcelona but is still one of the best centre-backs in the world. He’s at a good age and the Gunners should go all out to sign the player if the price is right.
