Reports suggest that Unai Emery has telephoned his former player Ever Banega to convince him to join Arsenal (via Sport Witness).
It’s a common tactic for a new head coach coming into a club for the first time.
Along with a trusted backroom setup and coaching team, new bosses often bring in trusted former players which they have worked with in the past.
That is exactly what Ever Banega is for Unai Emery which is where these reports have come from in recent weeks.
Banega turns 30 later this week and is currently away with the Argentinean national team at the World Cup.

Now, reports suggest that Emery has phoned Banega personally in an effort to convince him to join the new project at the Emirates. He has a €20 million release clause in his Sevilla contract.
Ever Banega is a wonderful technical player who would add a lot to this current Arsenal squad. Arsenal only have Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey to choose from in central midfield with Lucas Torreira expected to join them in the coming weeks. Banega would offer a different option to the rest of these players and free up Ramsey to move further up the field.
