Reports suggest that the English midfielder, Jack Wilshere is close to signing a new contract to stay at Arsenal (via The Telegraph).
In what has been a pretty depressing season at times, one of the biggest positives has been the reemergence of Jack Wilshere.
For a long time it seemed like the Englishman would never flourish and become the talent many at Arsenal had expected him to become but now he is fit and performing well in the team.
Despite being fit and playing regular first team football at Arsenal for the first time in years, there are still doubts over Wilshere.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and after the situation surrounding Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, many Arsenal fans were concerned about Wilshere.

However, reports suggest that the 26-year-old is close to agreeing to a new deal which would keep him at the Emirates.
It is believed that this contract would see a decrease on his basic weekly wage of £110,000 but that it would be highly dependent on performances.
It’s a great piece of news for Arsenal. Jack Wilshere’s reemergence in the first-team has been hugely pleasing and he is fast becoming a key player for the club. The nature of the contract is also pleasing. It’s good that the club is taking a pragmatic approach to the midfielder’s injury record and adjusting the contract accordingly.
Wilshere will, of course, have one eye on Saturday’s North London Derby. To find out how to see whether or not he plays against Spurs, head to our live stream page.
