Former Arsenal star, Edu Gaspar has reportedly turned down an offer to return to the club as technical director.
In the last 24 hours, reports have erupted from Arsenal that Head of Recruitment, Sven Mislintat is set to leave the club.
The Standard claims that Mislintat has been surprised by how much influence Unai Emery and Raul Sanllehi currently have over transfer policy.
Mislintat only joined the Gunners last year after a decade at Borussia Dortmund but looks set to leave the club over the desire of the Gunners’ hierarchy to bring another Technical Director to the club, a position which would have more influence than the German currently enjoys.
Now, reports from Brazil suggest that Edu Gaspar, the man who was the favourite for that role has turned it down.
The former Gunners player is currently with the Brazilian national team setup and is seemingly unwilling to join the chaos at the Emirates hierarchy.

It’s an infuriating story. Surely, transfer policy should be the job of the club’s Head of Recruitment especially so given the track record of the man holding the position. Let’s hope that this can be resolved before Mislintat’s departure is confirmed because Arsenal can’t afford to lose him.
