It has been revealed that Manchester United forward Anthony Martial wanted to join Arsenal in the January transfer window (via The Metro).
It’s a transfer deal which we probably won’t know everything about for many years to come.
The January swap deal saw Arsenal and Manchester United trade Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The deal was complicated enough as it is but now, it has been revealed that another Manchester United player wanted to be involved in the transfer.
Anthony Martial is the player in question as the Frenchman continues to make known his feelings of discontentment at Old Trafford.
The report claims that Martial was keen to discuss a possible move to Arsenal in January but was refused by manager Jose Mourinho who assured the Frenchman of more playing time before the end of the season.

It’s unclear how much truth is in these reports but it’s a fascinating story nonetheless. Anthony Martial is obviously a fantastic player and would suit the Gunners extremely well. However, the recent signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have effectively ended any need for the Frenchman.
