It was a timely announcement from Arsenal on Thursday morning. Much of the press’s focus in recent weeks has been on the Gunners’ attempts to secure new deals for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil but the club has been quietly negotiating with several other players.
Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin have all signed new deals with the club and it has now been revealed what the French trio will be earning.
Olivier Giroud will earn around £90,000 after agreeing a two-and-a-half year deal. The Frenchman has been at the club since 2012 and is signed on until 2019.
Koscielny, meanwhile, is on slightly less but has been offered a longer deal. The centre-back has put pen to paper on a contract which runs up until 2020. The three-and-a-half year deal is worth £80,000.
Francis Coquelin will earn the least of the trio, but as the youngest player, his deal is the longest. The midfielder’s £75,000 per week contract runs up until 2021. The Frenchman has developed incredibly well in the last couple of years and is deserving of this show of faith.

The staggered structure of these three contracts seems to make a lot of sense for all parties. The players all get an increased salary on deals which reflect their age. At 31, Koscielny is far from youthful but as a centre-back can play for longer than an attacker. All three players have shown tremendous commitment to the club and it’s good that the club has shown some back.
