Arsenal have revealed that several first-team players will be changing their shirt numbers for next season (via Arsenal.com).
It’s something which often takes football fans by surprise as players change their shirt numbers season by season.
Arsenal have done it more than most in recent years with many key players like Alexis Sanchez, Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas changing their numbers.
Well, that looks as if it will continue as the club has announced that several players will change their kit numbers for next season.
Here’s the list in full:
Petr Cech 33 -> 1

Mohamed Elneny 35 -> 4
Granit Xhaka 29 -> 34
Hector Bellerin 24 -> 2
It’s an interesting group of players. It obviously implies that all four players will be staying at the club and that Petr Cech will be the club’s number one goalkeeper next season.
Granit Xhaka has taken 34, a number he has worn throughout his career while Mohamed Elneny has taken the famous number 4 shirt at Arsenal after Per Mertesacker’s retirement. Perhaps most interestingly, Hector Bellerin has taken the number 2 shirt which implies that he wants to remain at the club.
