Riyad Mahrez’s future at Leicester City is far from certain after speculation intensified on Saturday with reports emerging leading to suggestions Arsenal were making a serious offer, with a potential fee of £45million mooted. It has since been revealed the Algerian has flown to London after his classy display against Celtic where he scored a fantastic solo goal, however Claudio Ranieri has stated the playmaker will remain with the champions this season (via ESPN).
TalkSport presenter Georgie Bingham revealed yesterday she was on a flight with Riyad Mahrez which was London bound from Glasgow, after Leicester’s penalties win over Celtic in a pre-season friendly.
Naturally that sent Twitter into overdrive, but the 25-year-old was accompanied by several teammates on the flight and is unlikely to have any bearing on a potential switch to Emirates.
Elsewhere, Leicester boss Ranieri is standing firm over the PFA Player of the Year’s situation, and is confident he will remain.
“I’m confident, of course [Mahrez will stay],” Ranieri said after the Celtic match.
