Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is expected to be fit for Saturday’s clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday, according to Sky Sports.
The forward was forced out of England’s friendly with Spain on Tuesday after picking up a knee problem that left him a doubt for the game against the Gunners.
Rooney reportedly had a scan to determine the severity of the problem which was found to be only a slight knee issue and is expected to be in contention for a starting spot.
The news will bring some relief to Jose Mourinho who is already without a host of players for the game against Arsene Wenger’s side.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended for the game while defensive duo Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling are injured are there are doubts over Marouane Fellaini, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia.
Whether Rooney will start the game even if he is fit remains to be seen with the England skipper currently struggling for game time at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho has left the 31-year-old out of his side in recent weeks although he did return to the team in the 3-1 win over Swansea before the international break.
Rooney has just one Premier League goal to his name this season and Arsenal may be more relieved by the absence of Ibrahimovic who is the club’s top scorer with eight goals, including two last time out at the Liberty Stadium.
Indeed perhaps the most important absences for United may be in defence particularly the loss of Bailly, who has looked a shrewd buy since his summer move from Villarreal.
