Bacary Sagna has given Arsenal a boost after declaring his love for the club amidst the ongoing contract negotiations.
The Frenchman’s current deal expires this summer and has been linked with a number of clubs that are offering the 31-year-old a bumper contract as he enters the twilight of his professional career.
However the right back has reaffirmed his love for the north London side which will bode well for the Gunners hopes of securing a new deal for the veteran defender.
He reportedly told the Mirror:
I love Arsenal, I love playing for Arsenal, I love my team. Arsenal are the most followed team in France and I remember I used to watch them when I was in France so it was a pleasure to play for them, so why leave?
It’s great here. It was like a dream when I joined the club because I used to follow Arsenal when I was in France and then I had the opportunity to join them and it’s a pleasure to play for the team.
It appears there is a willingness to secure new terms from Sagna’s end, however it is basically up to Arsenal to come to an agreement over a bumper wage package for the French international.

£120,000 is a lot to pay a right back in their thirties, but he’s been on relatively low wages (around £60-70k) over the past few years. Plus his commitment, versatility and experience will be hard to match without forking out for a similar amount.
Common Arsenal, get him to sign da ting!
