According to The Guardian, Cameroonian International Samuel Eto’o is interested in a move to the Premier League with Arsenal thought to be at the forefront of contenders for his signature. It’s not the first time that Eto’o has been linked with a move to England with both Arsenal and Chelsea thought to have made bids for his services in the past. He’s currently at Inter Milan where he has played a pivotal role in Internazionale’s forward line. He has scored 33 goals in 67 appearances – hardly figures becoming of a striker who is currently ‘slowing down’.
It would be unusual for Wenger to purchase a striker who is over thirty, however he is undeniably talented. Even Eto’o has acknowledged that age has become an issue: “I am now 30 years old and it is very important for me to think about my future before I sign what could be my last contract. I have already shown that I have what it takes to play in Italy and I now have the idea of proving myself in England.”
Would Eto’o actually fit into Arsenals style and formation? With the likes of Bendtner and Chamakh, and lets not forget Vela, not quite filling the void of Van Persie when he’s been injured, Eto’o would definitely improve our forward line and could work upfront with Van Persie. He would add not only goals to Arsenal’s front-line, but experience and a winning attitude.
He doesn’t seem to have lost any pace and he has at least two-three more seasons left at the peak of his game. Throughout his career Eto’o has maintained a ratio of one goal every two games (469 appearances, 250 goals) and has won most of the games top honours. I wish this rumour would actually turn into reality.. However, new on this topic is heating up, fingers crossed!

It seems that Clichy is edging closer to a summer move to Anfield with the Frenchman prefering a move to Liverpool. Serie A side Roma are preparing to trump Liverpool’s opening bid of £5million. Naturally Arsene Wenger ideally wants to sell abroad, but is eyeing Newcastle’s Jose Enrique as a possible replacement for Clichy and could reluctantly do business with Liverpool, who are also trying to secure the services of teenage striker Connor Wickham from Ipswich. It’s a shame that Clichy wants to head over to Anfield, as he is a longest serving Gunner, however if he doesn’t want to play Champions League football and challenge for the title then be my guest!
