Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Alexis Sanchez as Barcelona are hurrying through the sale to raise funds for signing Suarez, according to reports in the Metro.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with Sanchez over the past week with widespread reports claiming we’ve tabled a formal bid after Barcelona made it clear they were willing to listen to offers for the attacker this summer.
The report suggests the Gunners have been in advanced negotiations for the Chile star in the last few days, but are yet to agree on a fee with Barcelona. However, a deal is getting close, as the Spanish club want to offload the 25 year old as soon as possible in order to raise funds for their Suarez £63 million deal.
It further states that Arsenal’s opening £19.8 million bid for Sanchez is still on the table, but Barcelona are keen to get a fee of about £26 million for the Chilean and further negotiations are expected to take place over the weekend in a bid to find an agreement that everybody is happy with.
The player’s agent has also given the biggest hint yet that his client is joining Arsenal, after following the club and a host of star players on Twitter.

He is a very versatile player, capable of operating anywhere across the frontline or just behind a striker, but wherever he plays, the Chilean provides a major threat in behind. Not only is he supremely quick, but he is also capable of dropping off the back four, finding space and running at the opposition with plenty of tenacity.
He stands at 5 ft 7 in, has the natural ability to be a star for Arsenal and other players who are similar the Chilean’s style of play, like Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez, have thrived in the Premier League. He would fit in perfectly to Arsene Wenger’s philosophy with his pace, high passing accuracy and quality on the ball.
Sanchez can be the catalyst for the Gunners challenging for the major honours and getting him on board early can only be a positive for Arsenal’s preparations for the upcoming campaign. His signing would be a major statement of intent and he’d be the perfect start for what should be an eventful transfer window for the club.
