Santi Cazorla has praised the signing of Chile star Alexis Sanchez as ‘very important’ and feels he could be the difference in this seasons title race.
The Gunners were front runners for much of last season but struggled with injuries and a bad patch of form when their squad lacked depth and pace.
However Arsene Wenger has moved quickly to land a much needed striker, with Sanchez securing a £30million move from Barcelona yesterday bolstering Arsenal’s attacking options all across the front three in one fell swoop.
Cazorla, speaking at the launch of Arsenal’s new PUMA kit range last night, feels the acquisition of the frontman will help their chances in the domestic campaign this season as Arsenal look to build on their FA Cup victory.
The 29-year-old said:
It is a very important signing. He’s a world-class player – I’ve said it before. Having him at Arsenal night make a big difference just because of the player he is.

If you bring in players of an outstanding level, it will lift the team to an outstanding level.
The more quality players you have in your squad the more you can fight and we were unlucky with injuries last year.
Having another fast player in the squad like Alexis will also give us extra opportunities going forward next year.
[If Arsenal could win the league] Absolutely. Absolutely. If we have an even better squad than last year then why can’t we be champions this year?
Sanchez will certainly lift us to an ‘outstanding’ level, and is the key ingredient we’ve been missing since the departure of Robin van Persie – pace up front.
Olivier Giroud had an outstanding campaign last year but was overly relied upon when he simply shouldn’t have been. His hold up play was solid, distribution and work rate top notch but he was not prolific and lethal enough in front of goal.
The best thing about Alexis is his versatility up top, meaning he can be cover/competition for Theo Walcott on the wing, as well as his ability to play through the middle, giving us plenty of options in attack.
Cazorla was certainly not overhyping this transfer – this is huge and a major coup for the Gunners. We can certainly be optimistic this season if we can seal a few more players in the defensive department.
Welcome to the club, Alexis Sanchez 17.
