When Arsenal managed to get their hands on Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline day summer 2013, all Arsenal fans rejoiced at the thought of getting their hands on such a world class player. Since then, however, he has elicited mixed reactions. Some have even started to question whether it was worth it and that all he brought was a confidence to the Arsenal team that they could attract talent such as Alexis Sanchez.
However at his best, Ozil is unplayable with through balls that slit open even the tightest of defenses and while his work ethic has been questioned by some sections of fans, even Jose Mourinho who expects a lot from his players has coveted Mesut Ozil publicly.
One thing Santi Cazorla brings to the table is his high technique, link up play, verve wherever he plays, ambidextrous meaning he can be used in different positions, same ability to spot a pass, above average shooting ability and free kicks which he showed against Hull City in the FA cup final that enabled Arsenal to make a spirited second half comeback.
Obviously Cazorla is playing the best football he ever has in an Arsenal shirt in his favourite central position and he has spoken vocally about the way he would like to make the position his own. With the way he is playing, it is doubtful whether Wenger will refuse his request. He has proved to be our most important player together with Alexis Sanchez.
So if Mesut Ozil was today begin to play the football we all know he can and begin to set the Premier League alight and Santi Cazorla was to continue with his rich vein of form that has been consistent, who do you think will fare better as a playmaker?
