Wantaway Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has admitted he wants to remain in Brazil beyond the season-long loan spell with Gremio.
The Brazilian international failed to make a lasting impression with the North London faithful after a series of woeful performances this season despite showing some promise when he first arrived in 2011, and eventually calls for his departure were answered in January with the 30-year-old heading back to his homeland to play for Gremio.
Nacho Monreal then entered the fray on deadline day from La Liga side Malaga, and has since become a fan favourite with his all action displays, consequently casting serious doubt over Santos returning next season.
Since his return to Brazil he has managed to rekindle some form, however his sights are set on remaining there beyond this season and will look to make the move permanent this summer.
Santos told Zero Hora as reported by Sky Sports:
I’ll do my best to win titles. I have won titles at every club I have played for.

The staff, board and the players have all made me feel very welcome. There is no doubt that I want to stay.
He has not actually won a title with the Gunners, however last season they finished third in the league which is far more of a trophy than the FA Cup – according to Wenger. While Santos was committed to the club, he never really inspired much confidence defensively and that was certainly apparent this season. His disqualification from driving further added to his misery, and in the end both parties were satisfied when the Brazilian left for Gremio in January.
Good luck to him in Brazil, time to get the ‘deadwood’ off the books this summer once and for all!
