Schalke General manager Horst Heldt strongly believes Arsenal target Julian Draxler will be with the Bundesliga side next season.
The Gunners attempted to lure the young German starlet in the summer and then again in January, however they were unable to secure the 20-year-old with Schalke holding firm in their evaluation of the attacking midfielder.
Draxler still has a number of years remaining on his contract, with his current terms set to expire in 2018. He does however have a buyout clause of over £35million that could be met, but Heldt is acting naive about the situation and is certain their star will remain beyond the summer.
He told Sky Deutschland:
I definitely believe that he will be staying at our club for the new season.
Julian (Draxler) is an important player in our squad, he is playing regular matches and he is doing quite well.
Arsenal are expected to return for Draxler this summer regardless of Heldt’s beliefs, and it’s highly likely the player himself will be wanting to take the next step in his promising career after this summers World Cup in Brazil.

The Gunners need to invest in some quality talent in the upcoming transfer window in a number of areas, and should Wenger remain beyond his contract, it is thought Draxler has been earmarked as a potential centre forward. Whether Arsenal are wanting to invest so much in a young player it remains to be seen, but these are the types of acquisitions we need to compete with the Premier League heavyweights.
