The 21 year old has enjoyed an excellent season in France with his impressive displays down the right side earning him a place in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
Wenger is believed to have identified Aurier as the perfect player to fill the void left by the outgoing Sagna, who admitted last week that he will be leaving the Emirates Stadium.
The promising full-back was engaging with spectators at the Edward Jones Dome in Missouri while on international duty with Ivory Coast, when a fan asked the youngster whether he will be joining the north London outfit this summer, to which he replied ‘yes’. The video was subsequently uploaded to YouTube and was even retweeted by Aurier’s official Twitter account on Sunday night.
The Ivory Coast international has made no secret of his admiration for the Gunners and back in May he specifically singled out the club in a discussion about Premier League sides. He said:
I’ve never prioritised a club in England as even the promoted clubs are respectable.
I will privilege the one that will show the most interest in me, that will give me the most game time. After that, you can’t really say ‘no’ to Arsenal.

It’s a club with history, with a French manager, who has welcomed many French players.
The youngster is a versatile defender who can play both as a right wing back and as a centre-half. He has excelled in both roles, but the wider position is definitely his preferred location, as his determination and tractor like engine helps him burst forward and support attacks. He likes to make regular over lapping runs on the wings and is capable of picking precise though balls or dribbling past opponents.
He is more of an attack-minded defender and this can often lead to some sticky situations. He was caught out of position on a few occasions this season and also has a tendency to play his opponent onside. Defensively, he will need to improve drastically if he’s going to meet the standards set by the outgoing Sagna, but his attacking play is something to admire, as he’ll provide a constant threat during attacks.
His talent is visible for all to see and he is supposedly an Arsenal fan too. He would be available for around £7 million, which is very low considering the inflation in the market at the moment. Overall he is a great prospect and would be an asset for Arsenal to have, he appears to be the most linked player at present and perhaps the most likely of any of our other proposed targets to make the move soon.
