Serge Gnabry is an exciting and talented youngster, a winger with blistering pace and high technique. Arsene Wenger was forced to turn to him after facing an injury crisis but it turned out to be a good call as Gnabry turned in mature performances and even managed to score a goal during this time.
Gnabry has only come back from a long term injury but now finds himself way down the pecking order with even Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky struggling to get a look in. It is the reason players like Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski went out on loan.
So what next for Gnabry? He is now fit and raring to go but going back to the youth set up will only hinder the progress he has made although playing regularly will definitely help him stay match fit. Unfortunately with Arsenal not involved in the league cup final, Gnabry will probably have to wait for his chance next season where a loan move seems like the best option.
Gnabry has time on his side and with Rosicky and Cazorla not exactly spring chicken, he will get his chance sooner rather than later. Wenger knows what a gem he has and will want to keep him happy by making sure he plays regular football whether in the league cup next season or out on loan. Jack Wilshere, after going out on loan to Bolton Wanderers came back stronger and flourished under the guidance of Wenger even upstaging Lionel Messi at one point.
With Gnabry’s mature displays that belie his years and without the drama that off field antics seem to bring, he clearly has a long and successful career ahead of him and I am really looking forward to seeing a lot more him in the future. Those who have watched him can certainly attest to his talent.
