Arsene Wenger is apparently on the lookout for a centre-back this summer, and the latest transfer target is apparently Inter Milan’s Jeison Murillo, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Colombian has been fantastic this season, and alongside Miranda he’s formed a truly solid pairing. He’s quick and agile, and while he may be a little rash he’s an excellent defender.
At 24-years-old he’s also get his best years ahead of him, and he’s understandably being chased by several clubs. We’re apparently facing competition from Premier League winners Leicester City, but if you’re choosing between Leicester and Arsenal it’s really a no-brainer.
Wenger apparently wants to replace the outgoing Calum Chambers, who is set to be sent out on loan next season (via The Telegraph). With four centre-backs currently at the club, there isn’t really room for one more. If Chambers were to make way though, then Murillo – or another centre-back – will almost certainly be signed.

As the report states, we’ve also been heavily linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese star arguably looks like a better option, but it depends who is going to available of course. Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista really failed to impress this past season, with neither proving an adequate partner for Laurent Koscielny. We unquestionably need to find a more suitable centre-back pairing, or we can’t possibly hope to challenge Europe’s elite for the biggest titles.
