Arsenal have told Jack Wilshere he can leave the club on loan in search of first team football after falling down the pecking order and consequently missing out on the England squad this week.
The ever-reliable BBC report Arsene Wenger is prepared to let the 24-year-old leave on a temporary basis with the Gunners midfield looking strong and dynamic despite the Englishman used primarily from the bench since the start of the season.
Wilshere has long endured a series of injuries since breaking through as an incredibly exciting 17-year-old, limiting him to just three appearances last campaign and two substitute appearances so far this season.
The versatile midfielder was this week excluded from Sam Allardyce’s first England squad, citing the limited game time the talented academy product has endured.
Arsenal have significant options in midfield with the arrival of £35m Granit Xhaka, January signing Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin all strong options in the deeper roles, while Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil play when fit in either the box-to-box or attacking midfield positions.
Although the speculation makes sense considering Wilshere is at a cross-roads in his career where he must play regularly and even more importantly – stay fit, Arsenal need depth and Wilshere has the ability to be a game changer – a rare trait on the Arsenal bench.

With 34 caps to his name, Wilshere surprisingly has only started 80 Premier League games for Arsenal, most of which were in his debut campaign back in 2010/11.
Although a spell at Bolton in 2010 did the midfielder a world of good, he will play at Arsenal that is for sure.
The Gunners injury record is abysmal to put it politely and we’d be stupid to let a player of Wilshere’s ilk go when he will inevitably be called upon this season. However maybe some time apart from Arsenal’s medical staff/Wenger’s training methods will be a smart move…
