Newcastle combative midfielder Moussa Sissoko has labelled Arsenal as “the club of my heart” and would happily discuss a move should Arsene Wenger come calling.
The 25-year-old has been one of the most heavily linked midfielders over the winter period, now with the January transfer window wide open Arsenal are reported to be eyeing a bid for the France international.
The Gunners are in need of a combative ball playing midfielder to occupy the anchoring role and it has been suggested Sissoko could be snatched away from the Magpies for £20m.
In an interview with Telefoot, the former Toulouse star revealed his dream to play for the Gunners and suggested he would be open to a move now should Wenger come knocking.
He said:
I remain focused on Newcastle. If something should happen, it will happen.

England remains my priority. If (Arsenal boss) Arsene Wenger calls me? We will have a discussion man to man. Arsenal has always been the club of my heart.
I would love to win the Euros (in 2016) with France and the Champions League too. I want to continue to go further and higher.
Player Profile:
Sissoko came through the ranks at Toulouse in France, breaking into their senior squad in 2007. Since then he went on to make 192 appearances scoring 20 goals. Since joining Newcastle in 2013, the Frenchman has played over 60 games for the Magpies netting 8 goals – a decent return for any midfielder.
Known as versatile box to box midfielder, Sissoko can play further forward as an attacking midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. His all round talents have seen him represent France 27 times.
Should we buy?
Wenger knows Sissoko well from the France national team and will be fully aware of his talents. His combative nature is something the Arsenal midfield craves, while is ability to venture forward and contribute in the final third will no doubt help his cause.
At £20m he is certainly an expensive buy but not over the top for a player who is proven Premier League calibre. Morgan Schneiderlin remains top of my wishlist but Sissoko comes in at a close second.
It is highly likely Wenger will not be buying this month however thanks to the form of Francis Coquelin. Whether this is a good thing in the long term it remains to be seen, but the Frenchman has been superb recently and with Mathieu Flamini fit and Mikel Arteta returning soon it is likely Wenger will focus on at least one defender rather than an additional midfielder.
