We have regularly been linked with a move for Manchester City free agent James Milner over the course of the 2014/15 season (via the Daily Mail), but the English midfielder has pushed through a move to join Liverpool instead, according to the BBC.
There are many other free agents set to become available however, and Arsene Wenger may be on the lookout for a bargain this summer.
Here are six of the best free agents we could be targeting:
Nigel de Jong – AC Milan
- Arsenal weighing up double swoop to reunite Traorè brothers in north London
- Arsenal keen to land €100m-priced striker who rejected move to Gunners in 2017
- Arsenal ‘open talks’ with World Cup winner to replace outgoing Dani Ceballos
The Dutch international may be getting on in years, and his character is certainly somewhat questionable. He is a tough tackling defensive midfielder though, and with the emergence of Francis Coquelin there could be some benefit to bringing a more experienced star to the Emirates who will be content with less time on the field.
Sami Khedira – Real Madrid
We may have already missed the boat on this one, with a report from the Daily Star claiming Khedira is on the verge of signing for Serie A side Juventus.
We have still been credited with an interest in the German international though (via the Daily Star), and we have learnt the hard way that a deal isn’t done until it’s signed on the dotted line – with seemingly done deal Gonzalo Higuain snatched away from us by Napoli (via The Guardian).
