He looks like he would be a superb addition to our side, and here are six reasons why we should be looking to sign him from Sporting Lisbon this summer:
6) Still young, yet experienced
At 23-years-old, Carvalho is just entering the prime of his career. He is young enough that there is still plenty of time to improve, but experienced enough to perform the role required of him.

Playing in defensive midfield needs discipline, and the Portuguese youngster has shown wisdom beyond his years at times. He has an incredibly bright future ahead of him, and it might be wise to snap him up before his price skyrockets.
5) Reads the game well
Along with his discipline, Carvalho is also able to read the game superbly. He knows when to drop deeper and when to push on, and makes a number of hugely important tackles and interceptions.
He shielded Portugal’s defence superbly against England, and he was a massive part of the reason Gareth Southgate’s side were unable to break them down.
