The father of Sokratis Papastathopoulos has claimed that the player has chosen to join Arsenal over Manchester United and that the deal should be completed imminently.
It has become clear in recent weeks that Sokratis Papastathopoulos is a major target for Arsenal in this transfer window.
The Gunners are keen to bring in at least one more centre-back and the Borussia Dortmund man fits the bill.
In the last few days, Sokratis’ father was interviewed on the Greek radio station Radio 24/7 88.6 and said that everything is agreed for his son’s move to Arsenal barring a signature.
He confirmed that Sokratis has agreed on a two-year deal with the club with an option for a third year for a transfer fee believed to be around €18 million.
Sokratis’ father also claimed that the player turned down serious interest from Manchester United in order to agree on a deal with Arsenal.
