Sokratis Papastathopoulos has insisted that Arsenal must beat Chelsea on Saturday if they are to reach the top four this season (via The Standard).
Reaching the top four of the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League was always going to be Unai Emery’s aim this season.
The Gunners looked on course to achieve that prior to this recent dip in form which culminated on the weekend.
The 1-0 defeat to West Ham left Arsenal six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, the side which they will welcome to the Emirates on Saturday.
“If we want to be in the top four we have to work together,” Sokratis said after the match.
“Chelsea is another game and we have to regroup — a lot — if we want to do something. It will be a difficult game but if we want to be up there, we have to win.

“We did not play well [against West Ham]. All the team was not like the last games. We have to work, we have to look at what our mistakes were and improve for the next games.”
Arsenal certainly do need to improve. For much of this season, the results have been far better than performances and now, this is catching up with the Gunners. It looks like a massive task to reach the top four this season with the match against Chelsea providing a major test.
