The midfield enjoyed an excellent performance last week against West Brom with Song doing what he does best with Ramsey and Arteta putting in defence splitting passes and getting amongst the goals, displaying what the midfield trio is capable of.
Song told official website Arsenal.com on the continual improvement in midfield and his own goals as an individual:
Our knowledge of one another is improving every day. It hasn’t been easy because Mikel only signed for us recently, but you can see what a good player he is and I’m really happy to be playing with him.
Aaron’s doing well too, and we’re all still coming together and learning what works best. We’re all trying to help each other and that’s important. The more we communicate, the better we’ll get – if we’re constantly giving each other advice on the pitch then we can become a very good unit.
Also we’ve still got Jack and Abou to come back, which gives us a lot to look forward to in the midfield.
I’m very happy, although you always want to do more. Last season I scored five goals and this time I’d like to score eight or ten – it would show that I’m improving a lot in that area.If you want to be a top player you need to keep pushing on, to keep improving every time. Under one of the best managers of the world I have that opportunity and I’m always trying to take it.
It is great to see the trio beginning to gel together and show us what they can do out on the pitch. It is a blessing for Arsenal that Song is not going to the Africa Cup of Nations and hopefully the trio will continue to improve and also continue Arsenal’s great current run of form!
