Cazorla has been superb once again this season, and has been one of the more consistent players in the team. He has often been outshone by the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Özil, and Olivier Giroud, but he has been hugely important to our campaign.
At 30-years-old, the Spaniard is running out of time to win titles. Balague believes he will want to be assured that we will be challenging for the title next season, or he may look for opportunities elsewhere.
“I believe Santi has got a year remaining on his current contract,” said Balague.
“It’s down to Arsenal to convince him they can win the league because they really have improved this season.

“If they sign another two or three top players then you’re talking about a team who can challenge for the title next season.
“He would be welcomed with open arms at any time by Atletico Madrid.
“But it’s Arsenal’s job to convince him that they can challenge for the title.”
We are the in form team in the Premier League at the moment, and have been making up ground on Chelsea. Our poor start to the season means we are unlikely to catch them, but we have begun to prove that we are more than capable of challenging.
If we can continue our fine form until the end of the season, then Cazorla will surely be convinced of our ability to challenge the likes of Chelsea. It’s hard to see why he would choose Atletico Madrid over us, as at the moment they don’t look any more likely to be challenging for honours.
