Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly identified Porto striker Jackson Martinez as the player to lead our line next season, according to respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin.

Olivier Giroud has done an admirable job spearheading our attack, but we could do with an alternative as Danny Welbeck has failed to convince as a central striker.
Martinez could be ready for a major move this summer after a number of prolific years at FC Porto and the 28-year-old’s potent scoring record in the Champions League this season has proven his pedigree.
Arsenal transfer rumours
He’s scored 7 goals in this season’s competition and delivered a fine performance against Bayern Munich in the first-leg of the quarter-final tie at the Estadio Dragao.

We are desperately in need of a player who possesses different qualities to Giroud and Martinez may not be that player. The two share similarities in their stature and the fact that they specialise in bringing their teammates into play.
With the amount of creative talent we have buzzing around the opposition’s defence, the likes of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla need players running in behind.
Giroud doesn’t do that and neither does Martinez. Christian Benteke could prove to be a better option, although Martinez is the better finisher.
