The news has well and truly broken that Arsenal have activated the release clause of Lucas Perez from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, and allArsenal have taken to photoshop to mock up what the potential new No.9 would look like in Arsenal colours.
The Spaniard, who has yet to represent his country at international level, will produce some mixed feeling amongst Arsenal fans who were hoping for an established world-class star.
Regardless, the need for a striker has been pressing for a number of summers, and considering just six days remain in the transfer window Perez could represent a coup for Arsene Wenger’s side if he can continue on his trajectory that has seen him vastly improve season by season and cumulated in 19 goals in all competitions last campaign.
Perez seems, like Olivier Giroud, to be a late bloomer. After country hopping in recent years, he has finally settled into La Liga at Deportivo, flourishing in a centre-forward role.
