Josh Kroenke, the son of Arsenal chief shareholder Stan Kroenke will handle contract negotiations with Mesut Özil from now on. Kroenke will be brought in after a breakdown with current Arsenal negotiatior Dick Law (via Football London).
It’s a story which just promises to keep going. The contract negotiations of Arsenal’s two key players, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil just doesn’t show any signs of being resolved.
The pair’s current deals expire at the end of next season and while both have been strongly linked with moves away from the Emirates, there has been a huge update with Özil’s deal.
There are reports that Arsenal have dropped Dick Law from the negotiations and Özil will instead discuss a possible contract extension with Josh Kroenke, the son of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke.
The pair are said to be close with Özil reportedly a guest of Josh Kroenke’s at a recent NBA match held in London.
It’s a sign of Josh Kroenke’s growin influence at the club behind the scenes but it’s not a good omen for Dick Law. The American Law has been Arsenal’s chief negotiator since 2009 but now it seems that Mesut Özil’s camp has grown tired with how things are going.

This could be good news for Arsenal. If Law is proving to be an obstacle in negotiations then it’s good to see that change. However, a lot of Arsenal fans are highly skeptical of the Kroenke family and would be far more happy to see someone else handle the deal.
Either way, it’s news and hopefully we will see some sort of clarity about what the future will hold for Arsenal. The futures of Özil, Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger still hang in the balance and the Gunners fans will want to know what is going on.
