Arsenal are often maligned for their injury problems, as we have consistently seen our campaigns destroyed by injuries. Our medical staff are clearly doing something right though, as the stats show things have drastically improved this season.
In the 2014/15 season we suffered a huge amount of injuries, and key players were kept sidelined for prolonged periods. We’re certainly not injury free at the moment, but we’re in a far better position than we were last season.
We are currently experiencing another glut of injuries, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, and Danny Welbeck all out of action (via Arsenal.com).
Despite these important stars struggling with injury though, the stats from ArsenalReport.com show just how much the likes of Shad Forsythe have improved things at the club.
Not only has the volume of injuries gone down, but more importantly, the nature of these injuries seems far less serious and the recovery time is much quicker.
The stats show that when compared to this time last season:
- Agent of exiled Mesut Ozil warns Arsenal that the truth will be revealed
- Arsenal overtaken by new frontrunners to sign Houssem Aouar in January
- Ex-Arsenal star favouring a move to America’s MLS to restart career
Overall injuries have been reduced by 52%
Our total days lost to injury are down by 66%
The average injury length is reduced by 25%
This is obviously skewed a little by last season’s lengthy injuries to Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry, who came into the campaign injured.
Arsenal transfer news
Hopefully this trend continues, and we continue to see not only a lower frequency of injuries, but players coming back from injury sooner as well.
