There are very few who would question Petr Cech’s quality, but now we’ve got the stats to back it all up. With just 12 games gone, figures from the EA Sports Player Performance Index prove that Cech is far and away the best keeper in the league.
The former Chelsea shot-stopper has made the fourth most saves in the Premier League this season with 43, with just Jack Butland, Costel Pantilimon, and Tim Howard ahead of him.
But far more impressive is his saves per goal ratio, with the Czech international leading the way in that department. His 4.78 saves per goal is exceptional, and the only player even close to matching it is Jack Butland on 4.17.
Cech has been a massive part of our success so far this season, something which has been made abundantly clear in the games that he doesn’t feature in.
We’ve lacked a truly reliable keeper between the posts in recent years, and finally having that stability has made such a huge difference.
