Highbury Stadium was always known as a fortress, and teams were afraid to come to North London. They knew they’d struggle to get anything from their trip, and were more often than not going to get well and truly battered.
That hasn’t always been the case at the Emirates, but that’s something that appears to be changing. The stats show we’ve actually been the best home team in the Premier League in 2015, losing just two home game this calendar year (via the Metro).
The only team that has matched that figure is Manchester United, and with us tearing them apart 3-0 at Old Trafford they can hardly call it a fortress.
The only two games we’ve lost at the Emirates in 2015 were against Swansea and West Ham, both of which were more than avoidable. We made foolish mistakes and were not at our best, but other than that we’ve been solid at the Emirates.
Home form is incredibly important to any title challenge, and remaining unbeaten at the Emirates would give us a fantastic foundation to build upon. All the best teams strike fear into the hearts of visiting teams, and we need to make sure we do the same.
Our 3-1 win over Sunderland takes us second, with only Leicester City ahead of us. You’d expect them to drop off as the season goes on, so we now need to maintain our lead ahead of rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.

Emirates certainly doesn’t have a reputation for being a stronghold, but we are more than capable of making it one. We need the fans to be the 12th man whenever possible, especially with so many players missing through injury. Our season has been slightly derailed in recent weeks, but we’re more than capable of getting it back on track.
