Francis Coquelin has been superb since being recalled from Charlton Athletic in December, but these stats show he has been even better than many originally thought, according to the Mirror.
The 23-year-old has been a revelation since his return to the Emirates, and has provided the defensive stability in midfield that we have lacked for so long.
He has become integral to the success of the team during the second half of the season, and that’s hardly surprising when you realise he has the best defensive stats in the whole of the Premier League.
Since returning to the league on December 28th, no player has made more interceptions or won more duels than Francis Coquelin – and only Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta is ahead of him in tackles.

We will still need midfield reinforcements in the summer, as Mathieu Flamini will more than likely be on his way out of the club, while Mikel Arteta’s best days are behind him. The young Frenchman has been a superb addition to the side however, and without him there is no telling where we would be this campaign.
What do you think Gooners? Can Coquelin be the long term solution to our midfield malady? Or do we need to dip our toes into the market for a world class defensive anchor this summer?
