Borussia Dortmund’s man-of-the-moment Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has denied any links with Arsenal and Barcelona, committing his future to the Germans – according to quotes on BBC Sport.
The Gabon forward, who has netted an impressive 47 goals in 82 games, has helped Dortmund quickly forget Robert Lewandowski who move to Baynern Munich in 2014. Naturally Aubameyang has attracted a lot of interest from top Premier League and La Liga teams, but he is focused on continuing his journey in Dortmund for the time being.
The 26-year-old had attracted particular interest from Arsenal who time and time again are linked with every reasonably good striker on the planet. The recently named African Player of the Year inevitably grabbed the headlines as a potential target of Arsene Wenger’s, but Aubameyang is adamant his immediate future lay with Dortmund.
“In football nothing lasts for ever. But my contract runs until 2020, that is a fact,” Aubameyang reportedly said (via BBC Sport).
“I feel happy, still want to achieve lots with Dortmund and win titles, that is also fact. I am here and nowhere else – not at Arsenal, not at Barcelona, not on the moon – you can see that.”
It was a long shot and was always a very unlikely transfer, the rumour certainly pricked a few Gooners ears at the thought of another world-class pacy attacker joining our ranks. Olivier Giroud has been doing the business recently, not to mention Theo Walcott’s return has seriously boosted our attacking options in the wake of Alexis Sanchez’s injury troubles. Even Joel Campbell has stepped up to the plate, which made the reported interest in Aubameyang even more of a distant dream.

Will Arsenal consider a move in the summer? Should Wenger finish the season with the Premier League trophy in one hand, Aubameyang may well reconsider.
