Arsene Wenger has split opinion among Arsenal fans at different times in his career, with Gooners divided into two camps – the Wenger Out Brigade and those following the Wenger Knows Best philosophy.
A recent survey (via the Mirror) has shown a stark change in sentiment towards the Frenchman though, which just goes to show how much stock fans put in trophies.
There were numerous calls for Wenger’s head at the peak of our trophy drought, with fans growing impatient at our lack of silverware. Many were unable to see the bigger picture, and failed to appreciate the financial restrictions the boss was working under.
According to the Arsenal Supporter’s Trust (via the Mirror), back in 2013 just 17% of fans were satisfied with the way Arsene Wenger was doing things. This is in contrast to the 76% who claimed satisfaction in the 2015 survey, with back to back FA Cup trophies clearly having an impact.
It’s hard to believe anyone would not be satisfied with the way things are going at the moment, as we are arguably one of the in form teams in Europe at present. We have made a number of excellent signings in recent seasons, and have finally made it out of the financial mire we were stuck in for so long.
