Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is convinced the Gunners will end their eight year trophy drought by winning the Premier League this season.
The Gunners have not claimed a tangible prize since winning the FA Cup on penalties against Manchester United in 2005, but are now top of the Premier League table by two points after what has been a promising start to the season.
The Polish international, who signed a new long-term deal with the Gunners last week, is certain that Arsenal will taste silverware this season.
According to Sky Sports, he said:
I don’t want to say nobody can challenge us for a trophy, but if we’re at our best, we’ll win a trophy and that’s all that matters.
I wouldn’t say we’ve proved everyone wrong and passed all the tests. I’ll say that when we get our hands on a trophy in May.
I think what’s important is what we believe in and we believe that we are good enough with the players we have got and the work we are doing to win the Premier League.

We have shown that to people over the last six months or so. We know that if we just carry on doing the same thing, we will show people that this team and these players are good enough to win a trophy without any extra additions or extra work that people are talking about. We certainly believe we can do it.
The 23 year old shot stopper also revealed that there is a sense of new found confidence around the club this season. He added:
It’s quite an enjoyable time to be around the training ground. When results go your way, everything seems to be in the right place and everyone in a great mood, so we are all happy.
But what we want to do is make sure we keep it going and not just rest on our laurels and think we have done it now.
There is no reason not to (have that belief). When you look at the last few months – almost 12 months really, because it is not only this season – we’ve been doing well.
We need to make sure we continue doing what we have been doing recently and keep getting the results.
Arsenal are currently two points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, having lost twice from their opening 11 games and the Gunners are also joint top of Champions League Group F, level on points with Napoli.
After a rough start to the season with a 3-1 loss at home to Aston Villa, it seemed we would once again be looking at a trophy-less season. However since that miserable opening match, things have looked completely different and there is a renewed sense of optimism around the Emirates for the first time since the Gunners made the switch to their new stadium in 2006.
With the way Arsenal are currently playing, everybody connected with the club will be confident of ending the search for silverware this season. They seem to have the right pieces in place to have a real crack, and although it’s too early to talk about the title, there is hunger and confidence in this team which will help them in the title race.
Now it is time to respond from the United loss with a win against Southampton on Saturday to get back on track.
