The North London club were held to a 0-0 draw by Besiktas and the young Englishman played a major role in keeping the Emirates side in the Champions League qualifier first leg with a fine performance at the back.
The Poland international believes Chambers has adapted well to his new role and says he is impressed by the maturity of the Englishman’s performance.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:
He’s been fantastic for us and adapted very quickly to being a centre back.
He only came in pre-season so he hasn’t a lot of time to train with us in this position.
You can’t tell that he’s only 19 years old, he looks like a very experienced centre back. He’s doing very well at the moment.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also praised the 19 year old for his commanding performance at the heart of the defence against Besiktas. He said:
I think he was once again very good and very convincing in his performance.

He won all his challenges made on a pitch that was not easy to play on.
The young defender passed another test of his maturity on his European debut, despite the odd lapse of concentration. He was paired with Laurent Koscielny in central defence and showed his composure in tackles and his calmness on the ball throughout the 90 minutes as he both broke up Besiktas attacks and started Arsenal transitions.
His performance showed that he is well ahead on his development curve and seems a steal at £16 million. There have been wobbles, notably suffering a few problems tracking the runs of Demba Ba, but on the whole Chambers has performed with an assurance of a man with twice his experience, both in the game generally and in this position.
He is still learning to play as a centre-back as he has spent last season as a right-back with Southampton, so it is remarkable that he has played with such poise in the centre for his new team. It might be a little premature to heap great praise on the youngster, but what is undoubtedly true is Arsenal have bought a young defender with the poise and confidence to perform when thrown in at the deep end.
