Arsenal have confirmed the extent of the injury sustained by Reiss Nelson ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League match with Chelsea on Tuesday (via Arsenal.com).
Team News – Match Reports – Player Ratings
Match: Chelsea v Arsenal
Venue: Stamford Bridge, London
Kick-Off (UK Time): 20:15 21/01/2020
It’s a round of midweek Premier League fixtures as Arsenal prepare for an enormous match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are Arsenal’s direct rivals in the race for the top four this season and a victory will put the Gunners back in the hunt.
But there has been some bad news on that front ahead of the match with an injury to winger Reiss Nelson.
“We had an incident in training,” Mikel Arteta said of the injury on Saturday. “The doctors are still deciding how long it’s going to take, but it’s not looking good.”
Now, the club has confirmed the extent of the injury sustained by the youngster and it is not good news.
The Gunners have not only stated that he will miss the next few matches with a hamstring injury but that he is hoping to return to full training after Burnley on February 2.
There were updates on the other injuries in the squad. The Gunners hope that Sead Kolasinac will return at the same time as Nelson and that Sokratis is being assessed before tomorrow’s match.
It’s a troubling story. Arsenal are having a bit of an injury crisis right now with a number of key players out. The issue is down that left flank with Sead Kolasinac, Kieran Tierney, Reiss Nelson, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all out. The pressure will really be on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli tomorrow.
